There is a ferry from Chemainus (population about 4000) to Thetis Island (population about 400) from which it is only a quick boat trip to Hudson. There is moorage at Chemainus and on Thetis Island (two marinas).

The area is known as the 'banana belt' of the Gulf Islands of British Columbia and is noted for warm swimming, fishing, shellfish, boating, great variety of marine and wild life.
