Ferry service (frequent-20 minute trip) from Chemainus (population about 4000) on Vancouver Island or by Airplane (float) service from Vancouver and Victoria, boat (private or water taxi). Located approximately 56 kilometres (35 miles) from Vancouver and 74 kilometres (46 miles) from Victoria. The residential island is mainly forested, with some farms and about 16 kilometers (10 miles) of roads. There is a community center, volunteer fire department and elementary school. There are two excellent protected marinas in Telegraph Harbour of which one has a pub/restaurant, Post office and small store. The Island has no public beach accesses or camping areas.
