 his enchanting Island known as “Pylades Island” is situated in Stuart Channel south of Ruxton Island and west of Valdes Island - see chart below. Area: Stuart Channel (48°55’N.,123°37’W) leads from the north end of Sansum Narrows to Dodd Narrows and is bounded on its east side by Salt Spring, Kuper, Thetis, Ruxton and De Courcy Islands. The harbour facilities of Crofton, Chemainus and Ladysmith are on the west side of the channel. The area offers excellent boating, kayaking, swimming, diving plus fishing (salmon, rock fish), crabbing, shellfish (clams and oysters) plus a great variety or marine life (whales/orcas, seals, otters, dolphins/porpoise) and bird life (eagles, herons, gulls, owls, kingfishers). Location: Pylades Island (southern most of DeCourcy Group) is situated in Stuart Channel (Latitude 49° 04' N, Longitude 123° 42' W) approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) north-eastward of Yellow Point and 9 miles (14.5 kilometers) north of Chemainus on Vancouver Island.
